The SeeThru case for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is manufactured by Speck; a veteran company in the field of protective cases founded in 2001. The SeeThru is a two-piece, hard-shell case design that is transparent and includes a holster and belt clip with transparent qualities as well.

The transparency of the SeeThru is subtly accented with a smoke-colored tint which accents your Bold 9700's natural features yet keeps an inconspicuous look that doesn't stand out. The case is made with polycarbonate (plastic) materials that is very lightweight and the outer surface of the SeeThru is smooth to the touch. The smooth surface allows easy access to the Bold 9700 from pockets and purses but does decrease grip on the device. Be prepared for a few extra drops while getting used to the new feel.

Speaking of drops, the SeeThru's hard shell is relatively thin but is very sturdy and form-fitting over the Bold 9700. The good fit and durable material allow for great impact protection while adding even more protection while the case is inserted in the transparent holster. Speck designed the holster to house the Bold 9700 with the face-in, to protect the keyboard and display, or face-out to allow access to your device while it is still in the holster. It is very convenient to be able to answer calls or open your Web browser without having to remove the Bold 9700 from the holster, which is locked into place via to indentations in the case.

The SeeThru installs in two pieces by simply snapping the front and back sections of the case over the Bold 9700. A handy tab is built-in to the bottom of the case which allows you to quickly remove the case with a flick of the finger. The case then slides into the holster and, as mentioned above, locks into place. Speck recently improved upon the locking feature since many users were reporting that the case slid out of the holster to easily. Speck definitely achieved this goal as it now takes a bit of effort to actually get the case to release from the holster but at least it stays put.

The Bold 9700 buttons and ports are accessible via cutouts in the body of the SeeThru. The cutout openings lined up as they should but the left side convenience buttons were somewhat close to the side of the case causing a bit of interference when trying to push the buttons. Your fingers will adapt to the somewhat obstructed feel after continued use of the SeeThru but Speck should improve upon this on future releases of the case. The top buttons of the Bold 9700 are accessible by pushing through the case and therefore remain protected at all times. The keyboard and display are exposed and completely unobstructed while the SeeThru is installed.

The included holster that houses the SeeThru on the hip is made of the same durable, polycarbonate material and features a belt clip that rotates 360 degrees. The clip stays put on your hip but is still easy to remove when you need to access your Bold 9700 for a quick email check.
